POLYFLOW-Blow Molding

The purpose of this session is to introduce POLYFLOW's blow molding module.Models and numerical tools will be presented. Several flow models are available : 2-D and 3-D models with calculation through the thickness and thin shell elements as well. Their advantages and limitations will be discussed. Further, the most important numerical tools will be shown : (i) the remeshing techniques with their usage, and (ii) the contact algorithm with its geometric consequences.

The theoretical presentation is followed by suggested exercises solved on the computer, and which show the various capabilities of these software developments. During the exercises, important features such as parison extrusion, pinch-off, inflation and cooling may be investigated. Numerical results will be analysed and commented on.
