POLYFLOW-Viscoelastic

This course is a comprehensive introduction to the modeling and numerical simulation of viscoelastic flows with the POLYFLOW software.

We introduce and comment on some well-known viscoelastic phenomena, such as the Weissenberg effect or the swelling at die exit. Next, modeling tools are introduced: Newtonian and generalized Newtonian fluid models as well as viscoelastic models. The properties of the several models are discussed. The numerical treatment is also introduced.

Finally, questions such as selection of a model and definition of a flow case are presented, as well as a few typical applications. Exercises are solved by the attendees on a workstation.
